So everytime it get's cold outside, my car seems to smell like im soaking in gas. Anyone have any idea why this would be? It has to be temp related cause all summer it never smelled like gas. Any help would be awesome! Thanks in advance.

Subaru used cheap fuel line under the intake manifold and when they get cold they shrink, crack, and release fuel vapors. Easiest way to fix it is to just change the line.

Apparently this is a VERY common problem: 117 pages related to this problem on NASIOC:

    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131755&page=12

A TSB, and even a recall for some models was issued. Most on that page say that Subaru of America will cover repair costs... hopefully with it being out of warranty they dont give you any BS about it. If they do I'd be more than willing to lend a hand to help fix it Smile

if your car is a NA Subaru it will be hard for you to get any help from this Subaru dealer in billings . but if you have a turbo car from 02-03 you can have the car fixed by a pending recall.

if you have a NA car it will be a very easy fix , all you need to do is go out to your car with a Philips screwdriver and tighten all the clamps on the fuel lines, should be like 12 or 14 . with 4 of them under the intake,

i would start out with jest tightening all the ones you can see,AKA "get a screwdriver on" if you can get more then 1/2 turn out of them they probably where leaking.

doing this will fix 9 out of ten NA cars. I deal with this jest about every day when it gets cold. why its not a recall I have no idea.

so check to see if it was recalled, if it isnt that issue, def check the seals of the fuel injectors, been hearing about those needing replaced (hasnt happened to me yet)

no recall. But when it gets a little warmer I think I'm going to replace as many of the fuel lines as I can get to fairly easy.
