PostSubject: HOW TO:GAUGE POD INSTALL   December 26th 2010, 4:47 pm

Hey guys like I said I would be doing a write up.So here we go this will be my first write up enjoy.

First off what you will need is a gauge i chose glowshift good quality gauges, next you will need a gauge pod also glowshift, now most gauges will come with instructions as far as wiring, if not they can easily be found on the internet, what you will need to be most concerned about is your + wire and negative wire, you will need a good power source that will only turn on with the car, and a great ground as to not short your car or kill your gauge but we will talk more about that later.here is a pic of what you will need.

Next step is to open your car door if you look straight down you will see a piece of plastic wich I believe is called a door sill correct me if I am wrong. what you will need to do is pull it up gently!!!! and use both hands as to not put a imense amount of pressure on one side of the plastic this can cause cracking and or possible damage to the plastic dont rush if its giving you a hard time take your time with it.

This is what you should have after you have removed the door sill.

Next what you will need to do is remove the rubber door seal.It goes from one side of where the plastic was up the door and down to the other side this piece just pulls right off, when you go to remove it pull upwards now towards you, the nice thing about the seal is when you go to put back on you need no sealent or anything you just press it right back into its original spot.this is the door sill

next you will need to remove the seat belt, but only the part that is bolted on to the a pillar, there is no way to avoid this it has to be removed there is several washers on this bolt so make sure you keep everything in contact, I used an adjustable wrench so im not sure of the size of the nut.only part of the seatbelt that needs to be removed is the part in the picture.

This is what is should look like once you have removed it.

Now we need to remove the a pillar plastic to do this just pull outwards on a 1 ft piece at a time then move over and to the next foot down, because of how large this piece of plastic is and how many tabs are on this piece that is why I recommend doing about a foot at a time, you will be able to put more force on that 1 ft space then you would on whole entire piece,if you were to try and cover a larger area i would suspect breaking and or bending of the plastic might occur we want this to look as factory as possible so better to be safe then sorry.again do not rush this process take your time.

Now that weve got the a pillar plastic off we can test fit our gauge pod, i reccomend setting it on either the floor of ur garage and or workbench just so that everything can be level, now you will want to put the gauge pod on the plastic and depending on your height you will have to locate where you think you will be able to look at your gauges best, you can either test it out while the a pillar plastic is in the car or out, my suggestion for most users would be to place the gauge pod in the middle, we will have to drill a hole through the middle of a pillar plastic so that we can run the wires through, once you find where you want your gauge mark both ends with a pencil like such. and once you go to mount the gauge pod to the a pillar plastic you can use either 3m double sided tape or screws

Next we will drill a hole through the middle of your two pencil marks(pencil marks representing both ends of the gauge pod)and we will feed the gauge wires through that hole.if you tie the wires together with zip tie it will make the wires look much cleaner.

Now the next part is entirely up to you as to how you want to run the wires, especially with the imagination i know you all have I chose to run them down the side where the plastic rubber door seal was that way they are completely hidden and then just got under neath where the cluth pedal is and pulled them down through again how you choose to do it is up to you as far ass wiring.

    here is my example

Now once you have found your ground and positive and got everything wired up and any accessorys you have with the gauge wired up turn on the car and see if the gauge is working properly do this before you reassemble just to save yourself the hassle of having to take everything off again, now to reinstall its basiccaly the reverse order clip the a pillar peice of plastic into place bolt the seatbelt back in. put the rubber door seal back on and then put the door sill on. the end product should be this

I hope you guys enjoyed the write up and I hope it helps you guys out,let me know if I did good or not
