right now the $41,000 Mustang BOSS 302 is sitting at the number 10 spot, just barely faster than the GTR. Pretty crazy, I wasn't expecting that for sure. Although that is just that particular track, we'll have to see how it holds up on some others.

too bad its just a bit out of my price range, i'm very impressed with the new 5.0. i'll be able to get the boss intake manifold but i cant run the cams, i'd need different heads so not worth the extra work.. btw, they've gotten 507rwhp out of the 5.0 with cnc machined heads, regrind on the stock cams, boss intake manifold, LT headers. I probably wont go N/A though with our altitude. I am seriously considering some N2o though. apparenlty a 150 shot is safe.

It all depends on the day (track conditions) and the driver. Magazine racing means nothing. Those comparisons you're making are four years apart. The track itself is not the same after that period of time, let alone the temps or the drivers abilities.

I'd take the GTR over the Mustang with the same driver on the same day. I'd be willing to put a lot of money on it also.

Besides, you're talking about less than .25/sec faster.

All that being said, I'm very impressed with the new Mustangs.

Note GTR trumps ZR1 and most other factory production cars.

in straight line performance you are looking at the GT-R at 11.9@120mph, the Boss 302 is at 12.3@115mph so obviously it's faster there. look at the gtr weight, 3885 55/45 distribution, the boss is 3631 (having trouble finding weight distribution info, i saw a vid that said it was ideal though) tight suspension, sticky tires, good brakes, from the facotry it was built for that kind of track.

THe leguna seca edition has the rear seat removed that model hasn't been tested by journalists yet.

That track is kind of interesting.. and the results of the gtr beating the zr1 always made me wonder about that nurburgring run.. i know that it has been debated to death, on paper there is no reason the GTR should be anywhere near as fast as it ran. a 3885lbs 480hp car shouldn't be beating a 3300 638hp car.. and on race tracks driven by pro drivers the ZR1 has been beating the GTR.

edit: just saw that the list has been updated, more people have taken the GTR to the track it seems.... same driver in the zr1 and the gtr eqauted to about equal times.. interesting.

i'd like to have a GTR as well, but for 41,000 thats some good bang for your buck.

The new GTR is a big improvement over the "old" one. Obviously the same can be said for the new mustang. I fully expect a stock 5.0 to run 13s no problem at Acton.

respect to the new special edition mustang but for $41,000 i will take a slightly used z06. the mustang will be quicker but....well lets just leave it at that
