Hey all you mitsubishi guy... i got a 95 eclipse rs i just picked up with the 5 speed manual. and i just noticed the other morning when i went out to start it there was an odd sound coming from the tranny. sounded like skate board wheels lol anyways when i put the clutch in when im sitting still the sound goes away and when i let it up it does it again.... any ideas??? ive heard this is common but no one can seem to tell me wat it is and how or if it can be fixed. Also is there anyone in town that does rebuild/upgrades to these trannys?

We share the same motor and tranny setup! I changed my transmission last summer and they gave me the wrong throwout bearing with my new clutch and I ended up having to drop the tranny a week later to put a new OEM TOB in. It did the same thing as you descibed. It would chatter around until I pushed the clutch all the way in then it would dissapear.

How does the clutch feel? You'll probably have to replace your throwout bearing and if the previous owner hasn't changed the clutch yet now would be the perfect time!

You ever need help with this motor hit me up man, I've been in, out, and all around this motor and tranny. My fiance can even help pull the tranny out lol

That would be your syncro's in 5th are bad. I had this same problem with 2nd and 3rd a couple years ago and thats when I replaced the clutch and tranny. A transmission shop can fix it for you too.

A little off topic but I noticed you're selling this car on Facebook? What exactly were you meaning by a "turbo intake manifold"?

Im not for 100% on this I bought the car this way and the kid i bought it from claims he pulled it off a wrecked 420a eclipse that was turboed out.... i couldnt find any identification on it but it appears to be different than a stock intake manifold. BTW would you happen to kno what it would cost to have one of these trannies rebuilt? I have a tranny sittin here that the 2nd gear syncro is bad how hard would it be to swap over 5th gear?

Not sure on how much it would cost. You'd have to go down to a transmission shop and ask them. I'd try giving ATC on 1st Ave a call.....

Awesome I'll get that one if it's gonna cost me more than that to have it rebuilt. Do the dodge neons use the same tranny as us?

i just got a new eclipse the other day and it needs a new tranny should i drop the tranny or pull the motor?
