Hey guys, Dana at Wesfab is been working on my car the last few days. I swung by to pull some stuff out to make for more room to tie into the dash bar so I figured I'd snap a few pictures of the progress. He definitely knows what he is doing, his notching is a work of art. Most of what you see in the pictures is just cut and fit, not even welded in yet. I was very happy to see how nice his work is so far. I can't wait to see it when its all done.

The main hoop is so nicely fit that when I first got there I didn't think he had even started yet because you didn't see anything from the side profile. Much better than the old pink roll bar.

WesFab's number: 406-350-2887 ask for Dana and tell him I sent you.

No this one will be either black or some other dark color. We'll see if I end up painting it with POR or having a body shop paint it for me. Anyone work at a body shop and wanna hook me up with some painting?

Oh oh! I do I do! Suppose it would need to be painted "in" the car huh? It would be better if you could paint it pre-installation.

Also I wouldn't recomend going directly to a body shop, just talk to a painter at one lol.
Big Sky Collission is so busy right now with production work that we wouldn't be able to get the job done in good time (like we ever do anyway lol).
In the summer when some of the smaller shops are slow would be the best time to hit one up, if you decide to go that route.

I could talk to a couple of our painters if you like to see if they would do it as a home project. LMK, kinda skatterbrained right now bom

Here's a few more pictures, Dana did an amazing job with all the welding. I will probably end up adding more gussets as I get used to the cage before I paint it, an maybe a few more bars. If anyone wants his card or number let me know. He can do all kinds of sweet work, cages, sheet metal work, tin work. I have lots of stuff I plan on keeping him busy with. My cage is all made out of DOM Chromoly.

Its chromoly 4130 I believe. I need to add a few more bars and gusset the A pillars so I can paint it. Can you TIG weld Eric? You know anyone with the tools to make Dimple died gussets if I make a template? I know Dana can do it and make it sweet but it would suck to drive out there with no windshield. I may have to just have someone do it at my house or close by.

Yeah I been thinking about pulling the window out when the snow melts and throw some goggles and a few jackets since I don't have heat and drive it out there. We'll see, I just want to get it all painted and put the interior back in. I know some people who can make the gussets so I may have them make them for me and then see if someone wants to weld them in for me.

Yaeh, it's nice to see Josh in a non-bastard car. lol

A GM car in primer is still better than a Ford with paint regardless of a bow tie engine upgrade or not. lol (Ryan Holly should like that comment Laughing )

them there pvc cages are sweet. real strong and lightweight. You can get them even lighter if you fill them up with helium when you're done making the cage. drunken

I am going to have to get a hold of this guy during the summer and have him weld in a few more bars. Very impressed with the welds on the cage.

I added it to the first post. He's out in Worden. If you want him to do anything you need to setup an appointment as he's usually pretty busy but a great guy and does very nice work.

Todd you get my message about talking to your painting buddies? Or anyone else on here do any auto pain work? I want to atleast get the cage painted but I am thinking it may be simpler and look better to just do the whole interior.

I didn't get any message no, But something like painting the whole interrior would be more of a job for a custom shop. I would give Trackside Automody a try honestly.

Here's a few more pics with the A pillar gussets and door gars all finished up. Now I just need to clean everything up and get the cage painted.

    Tabs for the harnesses.

    X-door bars

Thanks to Eric (F20bmt) for welding up the door bar gussets.

Saw this beast in person last weekend all painted up and it looks stellar. I am jealous.
