I have a tdo4 out of a vr4 its so tiny so im a little hesitant about putting it on the F, but here is my logic feel free to tell me Im a moron if you think so. The vr4 is what like 3.6??? but its twin charged so thats 1.8 per turbo. so I dont see any reason why a 2.0 would be too much. The F has 11:1 pistons so that makes me want to ose a smaller turbo that puts out less cfm. Any advice or input would be helpfull.

what's your power goals? Do you know what boost range is efficient on that turbo. Find out those two things and you should be able to make a good judgment call. Smaller turbo's that can run a good amount of boost and are efficient sure make fun cars.... quick spool wins over big laggy turbo's for me anyday.

I dont know for sure what that turbo is rated for but I only want to run about 8-10 lbs and shoot for 280 -300 hp

The stocker on the NSRT4 is a TD04 and it runs out of breath at 5k rpm, granted its a 2.4l but the higher redline of the F20 will really suffer with this small turbo. It has to really be pushed to break 300hp but will make 280 all day.

The only thing Id say its good for is making torque, which it continues to do even up 25psi, it just hits a wall HP wise anywhere above 21psi.

If you want to make it work Id probably look at putting a larger compressor wheel in it, but that might not be worth the trouble, any run of the mill T3 would flow better and be safer because of the better efficiency range.

The instant spool is really nice, but feeling the lack of power up top is depressing

well you will need to figure out the air consumption of your engine, + the maping of your tubo. you usally try to not go over 80% on your turbo or you will have problems with surge, but you dont want to go under 60% or it will have spoling issues.

Just take the easy way out.... start googling about td04 turbo's I am sure you are not the first person to put it on a honda. Then just ask them what they thought of it and what power it made!

Then you can give up on reading techincal stuff! It's sad but true, you don't need any brain power you just need one other guy to have tried something and you can have all the knowledge instantly!

in my experiences with pick and chose of turboes and their apps, a stock hx35 from a 12 valve cummins 5.9 will work really well on a 2 litre. only issue would be it wouldn't spool until about 2200rpm but on the upside, you wont ever use the real potential of the compressor and the exhaust housing wont be a restriction at higher rpms either. not to mention they are dime a dozen and they are really small so getting one of them fitted into your engine compartment isn't really going to be an issue. when i first started playing with turboes, i made the mistake of buying a t70 and it just didn't do it for me over 5500 rpm with a smallblock 350. so i went to a gt-42 off a detroit 60 series and it works like a champ. i just use a slightly looser converter and brake boost it before i let er eat at the line.

I found an internally gated t3 that a guy is willing to give me if I build him a turbo manifold and give him that tdo4. problem solved! Thanks for the input everyone.
