alright so I've been reading up on Seafoam a lot lately as I'm always looking for ways to have my car running like a brand new car before I rebuild, I've used lucas injector cleaners...not much improvement even after regular use....used the oil stabilizer a little here and there but really had to pay attention to notice, now I'm reading and watching about Seafoam which is really cheap and seeing as they reccomend that you change your oil and spark plugs after you use it and I was planning on doing both as well ...I was thinking of doing it......now I've read and watched how to properly use it and so my worry is not the hydrolocking that some ppl run into when using too much

what I'm bouncing back and forth on is that some ppl warn about leaky gaskets and stuff after using on high mileage Vehicles while an almost equal amount of ppl who use it in their High Mileage DSM (one of which was 180k miles in particular) swear by it and have had nothing but great improvements in smoother idle and throttle response.....I really need some opinions in whether or not it''l be worth it to experiment with it or not

Never used it personally, but it has been around since I can remember. My friends father used to swear by the stuff and used it in their Impala on a regular basis. Car ran great for years.

Seam foam can work great depending on if your engine is full of carbon deposits or if there is worse problems. I know many people who have used it with great success. Be warned you'll have a lot of smoke for a while and its best to change the oil a couple times after doing it to get rid of all that material that is now lose inside your engine.

yeah I was expecting to change my oil and sparkplugs and wires afterward even the squirrel tail of white smoke from the crap in the combustion chamber I'm just curious if it my still be worth it to try it even though there is a risk that being as my car is so high mileage that carbon and maybe even sludge are hiding other major problems...I've heard that it is just epically beneficial for cars but if they have leaks and whatnot that are hidden by the very stuff it clears out......it can be very problematic just spooked but also am really considering trying it even just once...oh shit the "meth" commercial just popped in my head when I said that

MMO is the shit, worked like a charm to reseat the oil control rings in my saturn. Poured it in, let it sit for 8 hours, flushed it out. BiggityBAM good things

I know Nels (sprockmember) has had some good experience using seafoam. Maybe he will chime in at some point.

I swear by this stuff... I once bought a gallon (yes a gallon) of Seafoam and just seafoamed any vehicle that I could find, even a 1983 Fiat X1-9 (No, not Dr. Auto's) and anything it touched would run noticeably smoother. I do it to my Sentra at least twice a year to keep it clean. I used to have a nickname at work "Seafoam Dan" lol... almost had the Seafoam rep put in a request to sponsor me one time.
But yes, if you put it in your oil expect to change your oil soon because this stuff will break away deposits in your engine that you won't want floating around in there for long. If you put it in your gas well then just drive. If you use it through your vacuum lines or PCV system there will be lots of smoke and you may want to change your oil soon after this as well because this stuff will make the oil turn black real quick. If you have any questions about this stuff I probably could answer it. They do also have different products like an aerosol version that you actually spray into your throttle body while running the vehicle.

yeah I'm always on the prowl for ways that noticeably bring my car back to her former prime that's why I'm asking cuz withing the next month I'm gonna be doing a full tune-up with new plugs, wires, oil & filter, fuel, filter, air filter, new hydraulic fluids like brake and clutch fluids, and before that definitely get my clutch replaced cuz she really needs it

Let me know when you want to do this, hell we can do it outside O'Reilly's if you want!
